November 17th, 2022 - Flourishing communities with a neurodiverse / hidden disability foundation

Image
11AM LA / 2PM NY / 7PM UK Register in advance We live in a world where we are generally unaware of other people’s real needs particularly when it’s a hidden disability. Understanding that neurodiversity is the norm and not a form of ‘other’ is essential to building successful and accessible communities in urban/city landscapes.  Understanding the needs of diverse communities and allowing those communities to be heard by ensuring that it is their voices that are at the forefront of decision-making will enable us to build something spectacular for everyone. We are all different. We all have different stories. Our stories, when written collaboratively, will create inclusive environments for us by creating spaces we will feel we belong in.  Register in advance  Join us to discuss:  Creating/building new inclusive spaces/places that are accessible to people with hidden disabilities  How can we create environments in which people can be their authentic selves?  Adapting/retrofitting work/h

December 15th, 2022 - Ready, steady, oh no, that’s not what we planned!

Image
11AM LA / 2PM NY / 7PM UK Register in advance Getting ready for the new year we look at ways to plan, try to understand the limitations of planning, and investigate how the context in which we want to deliver our plan might have changed. Whilst we may be spoilt for choice when choosing from a huge array of planning apps and project management tools – do they help or hinder the delivery of our intentions?  Are there better ways to deliver requirements, and acknowledge but not necessarily always accept/understand that change can be useful, if not essential? Is having the courage to change what matters most?  The art of listening and responding to what is needed is a life skill. Is it through our desire to succeed that we often forget to listen and respond to everything we do and not just within the projects we manage or are involved in? How do you plan, and how do you manage to change a plan, and still look like you know what you are doing?  Register in advance Join us to discuss:  The

15th September 2022 ASN: Discussion - Why are we so bad at listening?

Image
11AM LA / 2PM NY / 7PM UK Register in advance What is communication? How do we communicate? During the pandemic we had to rely on texts, emails, posts, video; essentially, communication with far less of the non-verbal clues and indicators we would previously have relied on.  As we continue to navigate a different phase of the pandemic, that of communication in a post-pandemic world, we find ourselves having to relearn the etiquette of face to face conversation. Has the way you socially interact changed?? What is my body language telling you? Are you talking to fill a supposed awkward silence or are you really listening to learn something new?  Through the exploration of all of the different ways in which we communicate, can we learn and benefit from deep listening, and collective sensing to bring empathy and a greater chance of experiencing deep and meaningful interactions? Register in advance    Join us to discuss Sensing and communication beyond words  Exercises to develop listeni

20th October ASN: Discussion - Regenerative, forget sustainable, it isn’t working

Image
11AM LA / 2PM NY / 7PM UK Register in advance We seem to be trapped into thinking that the solutions to our ecological and human issues are going to come from within our understanding of how everything works now, when in fact all we are doing is squeezing out the last dregs of potential from the technologies we discovered in the last century, if not the one before that.  Do we need to give up on sustainability as a way of thinking, and think differently? Does the idea that a regenerative approach will have a far better outcome and likelihood of success? Let’s not for example think about making cars go further on a different type of fuel, let’s think instead about a world without cars.  Let’s go to the core of what it means to be alive in a world of 7.9 billion people, with fewer resources, but with a mindset and ingenuity that will fix everything. Register in advance Join us to discuss How does a regenerative approach differ to a sustainable approach  Why we need to think differentl

16th June 2022 ASN: Discussion - A World View: A glimpse of the future. What can you see?

Image
11AM LA / 2PM NY / 7PM UK Register in advance The planet we call home is smaller than it’s ever been, and its interconnections are more than evident. The option of living on another planet is not now entirely science fiction, that said, for everyone (except a tiny percentage) we have little option other than to consider our position in reality, grounded here, on earth. What are your immediate thoughts - science fiction or near reality?  What is your worldview? The signals of change can often be hard to spot but the results of change are more and more evident. How /does it affect you, and how do you see your future? Will/can technology save us?  Will the survival of the fittest remain the model humanity has to endure, or will another economic and more humanistic model emerge? Register in advance Join us to discuss Your understanding of the world - positive, negative or a combination of both  What shapes your understanding of the world - your sources and influences  How change happen

ASN: February Podcast - The Scorched Battlefield of Aesthetics and Health (45 mins)

Image
Whether discussing humans, products, companies or governments, the debate between serving acceptable perceptions or addressing sustainable health rages on. It doesn’t really matter if we’re discussing financial policy, costs of goods and services, long-term health treatments or disaster responses, we often lean heavily on how things will look. As we move deeper into the 21 st century, the need to examine the true costs is coming deeper into focus. Illustrative examples where we’ve gone too far in either direction of Aesthetic or Health at the absolute cost of the other. The telltale signs of inherent biases/perspectives/control that inhibit members of society from making the best choices and why they were put in place. Ways in which we might lead to ways in which to provide transparency and/or offer the best of both worlds when faced with decisions between how things look and how they truly feel into the future.

ASN: January Podcast - Blockchain Evolution (47 mins)

While Cryptocurrencies and the dark web were the early poster children of blockchain, there is far more potential to be developed and put into action. Many progressive uses are being devised and implemented under the radar that will supply huge positive impacts on all of society. If only we can bear with the disruption…

17th March ASN: Discussion - Destination: Positive Change

Image
11AM LA / 2PM NY / 7PM UK Register in advance Join us in our pursuit of a meaningful ASN program in 2022. We are embarking on a journey of discovery with the constant destination of positive change.  We have identified so many key themes for this year’s sessions, including,  the importance of understanding and embracing difference and how it helps us to see beyond our own bias; inequalities experienced by many and how it impacts lives;  imagining a future when humans can no longer sustain life on Earth;  the impact of climate change and the potential use of technologies in slowing down its effects;  the role of social media in discussions about gender, race, and identity;  understanding why we look to technology to fix human-made problems we don’t want to accept responsibility for;  and the use of technology for immoral and/or unethical gain.  The list is huge and all of the topics are relevant, so the ASN invites you to join us on our journey of discovery and share your thoughts, e

Arriving at the end of another astounding year which no one could have predicted, shall we have a go at recapping the past year and looking forward to the future? We’re still attempting to make sense of the known unknowns, the known knowns and the unknown unknowns, but nothing screams Holiday Season like a gathering of diverse, intelligent, creative and inquisitive people to tee off the dive down the rabbit hole.
