Las Vegas, NV – July 2025: The Augmented Society RSA Thematic Network proudly celebrates the overwhelming success of its latest initiative, Creativity Is A New Formula for Life, a powerful and thought-provoking exhibition held in downtown Las Vegas. The event drew an enthusiastic and diverse audience of artists, educators, technologists, and community leaders from around the globe.

This groundbreaking exhibition, co-led by Zoe Camper (co-founder and co-lead) and Julie Samuels (co-lead), marked the fourth major project of the Augmented Society RSA Thematic Network. It emerged from a series of deep, ongoing conversations about the shifting values in our society, particularly in light of how we define what is truly “essential” to a thriving life. In a post-pandemic world, where resilience, purpose, and adaptability are more vital than ever, this exhibition created a platform for global contributors, RSA Fellows and non-Fellows alike, to explore one unifying idea: creativity is essential.

“Working with Zoe and Julie on installing Creativity is a New Formula for Life was like being in a shared studio again. It was full of energy, curiosity, and mutual respect for each other’s work. Our conversations reminded me how deeply rooted creativity is in both tradition and exchange. Artists constantly gather, reinterpret, and respond to the visual languages around us; across time, cultures, and movements. Every mark we make carries that lineage. The installation week felt like a celebration of that process, collaboration, exploring, and joyfully reflecting.” Holly Lay, Visual Arts Specialist II -Public Art, Mayor's Gallery

The exhibition featured compelling works and installations from international artists, thinkers, and makers. Each contribution offered a unique lens on humanity, purpose, and well-being, inviting visitors to engage deeply with the questions: What does it mean to thrive? and How can creativity guide us forward?

Featuring 32 talented contributors, the exhibition presented a vibrant array of creative expression and storytelling across multiple media — including paintings, prints, soundscapes, animation, photography, poetry, and more. This diverse blend of artistic forms brought the theme to life with rich texture and depth, inviting visitors into immersive and thought-provoking experiences.

Reflecting on the event’s impact, Zoe Camper said, “Creativity is not a luxury, it’s our most vital resource for navigating uncertainty and shaping a better future. This exhibition is both a celebration and a call to action. We must embrace creative thinking as a core life skill. When we create space for imagination, curiosity, and experimentation, we unlock the potential not only in individuals, but in entire communities. Meeting so many passionate, thoughtful contributors in person and seeing their work come to life in such a meaningful way was a powerful reminder of why we started this journey. It affirmed that creativity truly is a force that connects, heals, and transforms.”

Julie Samuels, who traveled to Las Vegas for the exhibition, added, “It was wonderful to finally meet in person so many of the contributors we’ve been collaborating with over the past few years. There’s something profoundly moving about seeing the people, and the work, that have lived in shared documents, online meetings, and emails finally come together in one physical space. It felt like a reunion of minds and hearts. Every project opens new doors. It brings fresh perspectives, new voices, and challenges us to think more deeply about what it means to be human in a rapidly changing world. These aren’t just exhibitions; they’re conversations, relationships, and seeds for future change.”

Creativity Is A New Formula for Life exceeded all expectations, with attendees praising the event’s immersive storytelling, visionary art, and collaborative energy. The opening reception was a vibrant celebration of imagination, connection, and possibility.

"Zoe Camper and Julie Samuels’ exhibit Creativity Is A New Formula for Life has brought fresh energy to the Mayor’s Gallery at the Historic Fifth Street School. It’s been wonderful to see how this show weaves technology and timeless creative expression together in a way that feels new and different. Presenting artists from Las Vegas and around the world, the exhibit sparks curiosity and conversation. It reminds me that even when separated by distance or time, human creativity and its lasting impact are essential to understanding our world and ourselves." - Laura Machado, Public and Visual Arts Section Manager, Mayor's Gallery

As the Augmented Society RSA Thematic Network continues to build bridges between disciplines, cultures, and communities, this exhibition marks a pivotal moment in their mission to elevate creativity as a critical force for change.
